Going for driving test is just like going for any other examination. It is a tiring and fearful experience. It is natural to fear in such situation, but a bit of usage of strategies can help you in reducing the panic you face. There are two parts, where strategies are used to reduce panic. First one is pre-driving course and the second, the most important; one is post-driving course or pre-test taking.
Pre-driving course you should make up your mind that you would be consistent, careful and a Sponge (absorb maximum from instructor). The moment you are done with learning to drive, the haunted step comes, where you have to take driving test practically to get driving license.
At this pre-test taking phase, you should make up your mind that you will succeed. Here it is not only about the skills you have acquired that bring success but rather the combination of skills and positive thinking. I, being a driving test examiner, have come across many people who although have acquired the driving skill at its best, but are not able to reproduce it on the test day and resultantly they FAIL.
So whenever you go for a driving test, do not panic. You can do this easily by thinking of the fact that driving is a piece of cake, as a huge chunk of London drive and drive well. Repeat the phrase, “I can drive well, it’s just a show-time to show the skills I have acquired” from home till the time you reach the test center.
This will give you the confidence you require to PASS. The second thing is that, while taking test concentrate on your driving only. Don’t look at instructor; imagine he’s just a stranger whom you are giving lift. This also helps in reduction of panic you face when you see his expressions or the record he’s keeping of the driving quality, you did. And on a positive side, the chances of mistake reduce when you are able to concentrate well on the core thing that is driving.
Do ask, if you are unable to understand the instructions, as it is better to ask twice then to misunderstand and do something wrong. It is human psychology that if one mistake happens, the chances of doing many more increases. So not panic when you do mistake, because if the mistake has caused no major loss, it does not matter. But if you do multiple mistakes, then of course the chances of failure increase.
